.308 Remington SPS (24" barrel) vs. .308 Remington 700 SPS Tactical (20" Barrel)?

The Tactical (20") and Varmint (26") are otherwise the same. They do have a heavy barrel vs the standard barrel on the SPS. The Tactical will probably be more accurate with the heavy barrel. My son was wanting the Tactical last fall but could not find any in stock and settled for th Varmint. It shoots touching bullet holes at 100 yds with handloads with a little load development. If a light weight rifle is important, go with the SPS. If you won't be carrying the rifle very far and want accuracy, get the Tactical.
